Ways to use the resource:
Information Sheets:
· One-on-one with a learner or in a group setting with multiple learners;
· Provide learner(s) with an information sheet and allow time for them to review independently or in groups, then have a facilitated discussion;
· Provide learner(s) with an information sheet to keep somewhere (their
bedroom, or another private space) for future reference.
Activities:
· The STI & STBBI Cards Activity can be completed as a group where the facilitator reads the STI and STBBI behaviour cards to the group and learners can work together to sort the cards. This can be followed by completing the same process with the Types of STI & STBBI cards.
· The STI & STBBI Cards Activity can be given to small groups of learners where they can sort the STI and STBBI behaviour cards into the corresponding categories. This can be followed up with a facilitated discussion of different sexual behaviours and MOT. Afterwards, the same process can be completed with the Types of STI and STBBI cards.
· The same activity can also be done as an individual activity.
· The Risks of Sexual & Non-Sexual Acts activity can be completed as a group where the facilitator reads the action card to the group and learners can work together to sort the cards based on type of risk.
· The Risks of Sexual & Non-Sexual Acts activity can be given to small groups of learners where they can sort the action cards based on risk. This can be followed up with a facilitated discussion of different sexual behaviours and non- sexual behaviours and the risks associated with them.
· The same activity can also be done as an individual activity.
· The Differences Between Birth Control & STI/STBBI Prevention Methods activity can be completed as a group where the facilitator reads the prevention method to the group and learners can work together to sort the cards based on if it is a prevention method for pregnancy, STI/STBBIs or both.
· The Differences Between Birth Control & STI/STBBI Prevention Methods activity can be given to small groups of learners where they can sort the prevention method cards based on if it is a prevention method for pregnancy, STI/STBBIs or both. This can be followed up with a facilitated discussion of difference between prevention methods.
· The same activity can also be done as an individual activity.
· This activity is a good review or assessment activity after having taught the concepts of contraception and safer sex methods.
